GRANBURY, TEXAS. Granbury, county seat of Hood
County, lies thirty-six miles southwest of Fort Worth on the shore of Lake
Granbury on U.S. Highway 377. In 1854 "Uncle Tommy" Lambert and Amon Bond
led a group of emigrants, mostly from Tennessee, across the Brazos River to
the west bank into traditional Indian territory. That same year, Elizabeth
Crockett brought her family from Tennessee to settle on a league of land
awarded by the Republic of Texas to heirs of men who fought in the Texas
Revolution in 1836.

Texas, a large Craftsman style home featuring ornate mill work and
intricate leaded glass has been pristinely restored. The home welcomes
guests to experience another era of opulence when the iron horse
reigned. Daniel C. Cogdell brought the train to Granbury, TX in the late
1800's and left his legacy a block from the restored train station. We
invite you to share our home in the tradition that began 100 years ago.

The Nutt House
Historic Hotel |
Built of hand-hewn stone in 1893 by David
Lee Nutt, the Nutt House occupies the old site of a mercantile store
constructed on logs. It was here that two of the Nutt brothers, Jake and
Jesse, both of whom were blind from early childhood, began operating
their general store in 1866. David Lee was the younger brother of Jake
and Jesse and served as their "eyes" in the mercantile store from the
time he was 12.
