MATAGORDA BAY. Matagorda Bay (at 28°38' N, 96°15' W) is a major bay on the Texas coast protected from the tides and storms of the Gulf of Mexico by the Matagorda Peninsula. The bay is divided almost equally between Calhoun and Matagorda counties. Tres Palacios Bay, Turtle Bay, Carancahua Bay, Keller Bay, Cox Bay, and Lavaca Bay all open into Matagorda Bay. Matagorda Bay is also crossed by the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway and the ship channels to Palacios, Port O'Connor, and Port Lavaca.
 

Moonlight Bay Bed & Breakfast

In 1910, Mrs. Opal Price gave beautiful parties in her elegant home on the waterfront in Palacios.  Now known as Moonlight Bay Bed and Breakfast, this wonderful house has come to life again, under the careful hands Gaye and Earl Hudson.  Gaye is an accomplished pianist, gourmet cook and interior designer. She has beautifully restored and updated her home and created a new era of hospitality for her guests.

Main Inn Bed & Breakfast

Choose from five different accommodations at the Inn:  two rooms in the main house, which have private baths and private entrances; three bungalows, ideal for families or fishermen, with full kitchens, air conditioning, and television.  A full breakfast is served between 8 and 9 a.m. on the sun porch, coffee is always on by 7.  If you choose to stay aboard Papillion, (adults and children over 12, please) you may prepare your own breakfast in the galley, or come to the Inn and tell tales of "sailing" while tied securely to the piers.
